The most important skill that you should have if you want to keep the relationship last is the ability to connect and communicate with your man. Connecting is the foundation for which the relationship should be built. Communicating well can change your relationship for the better, and the lack of it will make the relationship worse instantly.

Connecting and communicating is not that simple. Many women know how to tell their men the details of their day and how they plan to spend the next paycheck. Women can easily describe how she wants the rooms decorated. Simply put, she knows how to tell him how she feels.

If you think this is the kind of communication that we mean here, you are wrong. Try talking to him again in this way and you will see that his reaction is not one of love and understanding that you want. Many women cannot figure out why this is so because women talk to their girl friends this way and they totally understand and sympathize.

But not the men. They are simply not wired to pick up everything as well as women do. Granting that he does understand everything like your girl friends, should he just go and feel like any of your other girl friends? If you want your relationship to go the next level, do not make him feel like he is just like one of the girls.

So how do you connect with him?

Bear in mind that a good communicator can make the other party share and understand. If you are a good communicator, you can share your thoughts and emotions to him and be able to bring him to share his thoughts and emotions with you as well. This is where the problem of most women lie.

Most women lack the listening skills that will allow him to open up and keep the communication lines open. When he sees that the communication process is one way, he will not find satisfaction in communicating with you, so he does the next best thing: to look for it somewhere else.

You should know when to be quiet and when hear him out. This will give him the courage to share with you even the most sensitive topics that are important in your relationship.

He will realize that when he needs to talk to someone about your relationship, he can go straight to you. If the lines are open and there’s nothing to hide, you can be sure that the relationship will go a long way.
